Ideas and plans need action. An outside resource can sometimes enable action better than insiders. When the team is temporarily stretched to or beyond capacity, or the initiative crosses multiple areas, a skilled consultant can get things moving, teams engaged and provide the initial effort to move an initiative forward. Barb has served this role in a variety of situations. She ran a sales region for 5 months so her client had the time needed to recruit and hire the best replacement. She then provided training and transition services to the new hire, which enabled greater success sooner. She has also served as an interim division leader while a permanent leader was on temporary assignment/leave. And, for yet another client, she ran existing operations so the permanent team could focus on new product implementation.
